Frequently Asked Questions
I recognise that investing time, energy and money into your health is a big decision (and commitment!) so I understand that you will likely have questions. If your questions are not answered below, please do contact me.
What is Nutritional Therapy?
Nutritional Therapy is an evidence based approach that works to understand how food and lifestyle choices influence your health.
Food and lifestyle changes can be an effective and powerful way to promote positive long term change by correcting potential underlying imbalances or nutrient deficiencies that may be driving your symptoms.
What is Functional Testing?
Functional testing is utilised in functional medicine to identify the likely origins, triggers and underlying root causes of disease and dysfunction. This science-based approach questions the WHY? – Why does this person have this set of symptoms? And WHAT exactly is driving their unique imbalances? In doing so, functional medicine takes a comprehensive view to connect the dots behind the symptoms as opposed to just managing symptoms.
Combining functional testing with nutritional therapy is a powerful way to target nutritional/lifestyle protocols and produce much quicker results.
Do I need an IBS diagnosis to work with you?
No! IBS diagnosed or not, I am here to help – regardless of where you are in your health journey!
As a qualified and registered Nutritional Therapist, I can help you identify the underlying root cause of your IBS symptoms and address underlying imbalances with evidence based protocols. In doing so I can help you manage/reduce your IBS symptoms and have a fighting chance of resolving it for good.
However, I am not a medical Doctor and therefore I can not diagnose or prescribe. I partner with some brilliant Doctors and other practitioners that I can refer you to if appropriate. Your GP will be able to carry out the appropriate tests to diagnose and/or rule out anything more serious.
How much do bespoke packages cost?
Package prices vary because they are tailored to your specific health goals and symptoms in order to give you the greatest value and best results.
However, package prices typically range from £350 to £1500 including VAT. Payment plans are available for more comprehensive packages.
Do you offer one-off consultations?
We all have unique physiologies and hence I offer packages that are bespoke and personalised to you in order to give you the best value.
To achieve this, most packages include in-depth functional health tests (see below for test details) to enable us to get to the root of what’s causing your symptoms so that I can create a personalised programme that is exactly right for you.
This takes time, and can not be achieved in one off consultations – hence just seeing you once fails to get you the best results.
How long will it take to see results?
The time it takes for someone to feel better differs between individuals. IBS is a complex condition with many possible triggers and underlying causes that need to be identified and addressed. Typically with IBS clients, they start to see improvements within 1 – 6 months depending on the severity and complexity of their IBS.
Testing alongside a detailed case history enables us to:
- Take the guesswork out and identify the root causes of your symptoms.
- Create highly personalised and unique nutrition, lifestyle and natural supplement plans that address your specific imbalances.
Not only will this give you the best outcomes for your body and health, but actually seeing your test results will also empower you and motivate you to stick to the programme.
I am registered with some of the world’s leading labs to offer a wide range of state-of-the-art in depth functional tests including a comprehensive gut test, comprehensive hormone test, SIBO breath tests, complete blood test and much more. These tests are available to private practitioners only and are not available on the NHS.
For me, testing gave answers that I was searching for for years. If you’re suffering from digestive or other health issues and still don’t have answers, then testing could be your missing piece of the puzzle.
